This is a good problem to have.

Here we go! Friday night at the Plough and Stars you have Jeff Rowe blessing your ear drums with a lot of new music, which is to be recorded at the end of the month down in Richmond, VA at Minimum Wage Studios. If you've heard Jeff play before I know you will be there, and if you haven't, well....you definitely want to check this out. His music becomes familiar fast and is easily singable, which makes for a fun night of drunken sing alongs!! He's an amazing songwriter and a wonderful person. Highly recommended!!!

Also on Friday night, our good friends Movers and Shakers will be playing at the Middle East Downstairs with Cassavettes (CD Release), You Can Be a Wesley, and Quixote.

On Sunday you should make your way over to Church in Fenway. This is a great show highlighting amazing bands and Chefs. One of our local favorites Coyote Kolb will be playing with Deer Tick. Tickets are a little pricey, but the money is going towards a great cause. Please look into this, as it's a great way to support local musicians and chefs. Elliot Brood is a musician based out of Toronto, Canada. His latest release Mountain Meadows first touched our ears in 2008. His music is rich with storytelling, deep with emotion and colorful in melody.

Oswego, NY has one of the most dedicated, passionate and supportive arts community's, that I have ever experienced. These kids just care. The scene is not competitive, it's supportive. And if you like hugs.....well, enough said.

Tonight, at the Raven, the atmosphere will be nothing less than what I described above. Matt Murphy from Goodnight Neverland and Jeff Rowe of Larcenist will be playing this show. That means if you love sing alongs, hugs, sweat, and great songs...... you better get there!

Local Natives

Local Natives are from Silver Lake, which is a district in Los Angeles, CA. They have been out touring with Blind Pilot (see prior post). They poked their heads into TT's last night and blew us all away. Every member seems to be a multi-instrumentalist and have amazing pipes. Their wonderful harmonies were matched with great energy. They have a handful of more U.S. dates before they head to Europe, be sure to catch one near you.

Davina & The Vagabonds is one of the most soulful bands I've come across in along time. Davina is absolutely amazing on the keys and the horn sections is top notch. On the video clip below, take notice how the horn section mimics her quivering voice......phenomenal!!

The band is out touring this summer, so be sure to check the schedule, and check them out at a venue near you.

Devall Music is Aaron Deruyter a native of the fingerslakes region. He has played in various rock n roll bands since the age of 14 or so, but now has settled in with his own very unique style of americana roots music. He released his first solo effort "Transit" back in early 2008 (I think). I highly encourage you pick it up. Give him a listen, you won't regret it!

Goodnight Neverland played in Syracuse and Oswego this past weekend, and as you can see, it was fun for all. The community of friends in Oswego compares to none other. These people are passionate and supportive of each other, and that's not something you get to experience in many other places.

Coyote Kolb sprung to life in the Boston area within the last year (as far as I know). They play, what I would call, Western American rock n roll. It's rootsy, soulful, energized and very dynamic. Goodnight Neverland will be rockin Upstate, NY all weekend. Definitely go check them out. Matt's lyrics and vocals will tug at your heart and echo in your ears for days after. This trio has so much heart, fun, love, and mores smiles than zoo full of chimpanzees (not sure if that really makes sense). I love these kids!!

Lucky for me the Plough and Stars is my neighborhood bar. It's a fine Irish pub with great food, beer and atmosphere. The Movers & Shakers have been killing it everything Thursday night for the month of April. They fill the room with rootsy punk rock, big smiles and great friends. Be sure to scoot over to the Plough and catch them before the month ends.

Coyote Kolb opened for them last night. Do yourself a favor and check them out, they absolutely blew me away.
